"The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." (Genesis 2:7)
Reflection:
The act of creation described in Genesis 2:7 is a sovereign act. God did not have to do it, and would have been happy forever without us. Yet without our asking for it or earning it, God brought us out of nothingness and into life, and sustains our existence at every moment.
Prayer:
Lord, teach us the lesson that there is no God but you, and that no human being has dominion over life. Fill us with awe in your presence. Amen.
